Meet Your Instructors
Paul Goodman, DMD.
Dr. Paul Goodman is a practicing general dentist and the managing partner of a group practice with two locations along with his brother, Jeffrey, in Mercer County, NJ. Over the past ten years, Dr. Goodman has acquired three dental practices and has transformed his father’s general practice into a dental group that employs multiple general dentists, specialists, and over twenty team members in two locations.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2002, Dr. Goodman pursued additional training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. During his general practice residency and hospital fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Dr. Goodman had the fortunate opportunity to learn how to place and restore dental implants. Dr. Paul Goodman is also known as Dr. Nacho. Founder of the Dental Nachos Facebook group dedicated to helping dentists and teams increase their success, happiness and most of all, have more fun dentisting.
Dr. Goodman lives in Center City, Philadelphia with his wife, Mary, and their two daughters, Daphne & Drew. They love all Philadelphia has to offer, especially the fantastic restaurant scene.
Dr. Marcus Cowan
Dr. Marcus Cowan is a general dentist from Lithonia, GA. He attended dental school at the Dental College of GA (formerly known as the Medical College of GA) in Augusta, GA. After dental school, Dr. Cowan completed a 2 year GPR at the same institution. The GPR program taught comprehensive dentistry, with an emphasis on surgical, implant, & sedation dentistry.
Dr. Cowan has been published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry & has attained his fellowship in the International College of Oral Implantologists. He currently practices in Athens, GA.
Dr. Laura Brenner
Dr. Laura Brenner has practiced dentistry for ten years. Dr. Brenner loves connecting with people. While the clinical practice of dentistry was the wrong vehicle for that, she learned that the role of coaching was always her favorite part. Since she started blogging about her career transition, she has been a voice for dentists who want to get real about their careers. Dr. Brenner helps other dentists and health professionals who feel stressed and overwhelmed to get unstuck. She helps them gain the skills to make the tough decisions like whether they should stick with their current careers or go for a complete career change. With their new skills and confidence, they are able to freely move forward and take action. Dr. Brenner’s approach is solution-oriented and forward thinking, and the results her clients achieve impact every aspect of their lives.
Dr. Laurel Gans
Dr. Laurel Gans is a general dentist and writer from Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Laurel Gans studied Spanish as an undergraduate student and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University. While attending graduate school, Gans published her first novel and continues to write for several publications. Her writing has been placed in the Austin Film Festival and the UCLA Television Spec Writing Competition. In her spare time, she enjoys water sports, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Maggie W. Augustyn
Dr. Maggie W. Augustyn is a practicing general dentist and writer. She completed her formal dental education earning a doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to that, she was awarded two Bachelor’s degrees (UIC and Benedictine University) and a prestigious University Scholar achievement from Benedicine University. She furthered her education and completed the course sequence at the renowned Dawson Academy’s continuum in oral equilibration and cosmetic dentistry. She is an author having been published in Dentistry Today, Dental Economics and many more. Her Dentistry Today articles made it to the top 10 blogs of 2020 a total of three times. She has been voted, “America’s Best Dentist,” and “America’s Top Dentists,” based on superior training, experience, continuing education and commitment to excellence. Her recent accolade includes the Rising Star Award from Benedictine University presented to an alumnus who has made considerable strides in their career and has demonstrated dedication to philanthropic endeavors. She’s also a moderator of, “Dental Nachos,” with 30,000+ dental professionals. Dr. Augustyn has recently been inducted into the Female Founder Collective which is a network of businesses led by women, supporting women. Its’ mission is to enable and empower female owned and led businesses to positively impact our communities, both socially and economically. Dr. Maggie’s hobbies include volunteerism, art projects of any kind, and non-fiction reading/writing. “My favorite thing to do is to just be a mom, in a team with my husband. My mantra is Life Is Good. Not all the time and … sometimes you might have to look for it, but most of the time, Life Is Good.” She resides in Lombard with her husband Scott and daughter Ally.
